Nature Lab — Exhibition, Arena, Studio

Outreach

The Nature Lab offers individual visitors and school classes space for discovery through play, creative activities and thrilling experiments that reveal the interconnections in nature. It consists of an interactive Exhibition, an Arena and a Studio. Guests can engage individually with the Lab to discover the players in the ecosystem and their relationships to one another.

The Nature Lab sparks enthusiasm for natural history-related topics in a range of ways. It encourages individual visitors (adults and children aged eight and over) and school classes to learn something new and recognise and understand connections in nature. Through fun activities, visitors learn about the function of a particular living organism within the ecosystem and why it behaves in a certain way.

Over time, every organism has developed different strategies to ensure its survival and that of its offspring. In that sense, a predator isn’t ‘evil’, a parasite isn’t a slacker, and the cuckoo has a very pragmatic reason for laying its eggs in other birds’ nests. To foster greater understanding of these connections among visitors, it is important to give them the opportunity to see things from the appropriate perspective and get hands-on themselves by developing knowledge and applying it at the different stations. The Nature Lab features the following areas and experiences:
